Mānuka Condensed
Klim Type Foundry · Kris Sowersby · 2021

A compressed grotesque cut from Teutonic wood-type roots, running Thin to Ultra for posters, packaging and bold display lockups.
About
A compressed display grotesque by Kris Sowersby with sharp joins, closed apertures and tight spacing, pulling deviant details from 19th century Teutonic timber type. Seven upright weights run from Thin to Ultra, no italics. Sits in the Mānuka collection alongside Mānuka Slab, and works hardest at very large sizes where the compressed texture reads, in Klim's words, like sunlight sparkling through a forest canopy.
Classification
Klim classifies it as Lineal: Grotesque; a collection of compressed fonts for large sizes, with deviant details pilfered from Teutonic timber type, grafting a contemporary antipodean aesthetic onto 19th century German root-stock.
