National 2 specimen from Klim Type Foundry

A redrawn Akzidenz-era grotesque sans, ten years in the making, with refined curves and a four-width family for any brief.

About

A redrawn grotesque by Kris Sowersby, ten years in the making, with every letter remastered, weight distribution corrected and curves refined. Sixteen styles run from Thin to Black with matching italics, and the wider system extends into National 2 Narrow, Condensed and Compressed for tighter settings. The Akzidenz-era detailing keeps the voice humble and workmanlike, which is why brands and editorial teams reach for it when they want a steady sans without obvious mannerisms.

Classification

Klim classifies it as Modern: Lineal/Grotesque; a complete 10-year overhaul of National with every letter redrawn and remastered, better weight distribution, refined curves and three new widths added (Narrow, Condensed, Compressed).
