The Future Mono
Klim Type Foundry · Kris Sowersby · 2022

A geometric monospace by Kris Sowersby that imagines Futura as a typewriter face, with seven weights and a deep stylistic alternates set.
About
A geometric monospace by Kris Sowersby drawn as a speculative pairing for The Future, treating Futura as if it had been cut for a typewriter rather than for advertising. Seven weights from Thin to Black run with italics, and the OpenType set carries fifteen stylistic sets covering alt a, g, h, m, n, r, u and square forms borrowed from Renner's avant-garde alternates. Reads cleanly in code and captions, then turns expressive when the alternates are switched on for posters or art direction.
Classification
Klim classifies it as Monospaced geometric sans-serif; a speculative reimagining of Futura as a typewriter font commissioned by Kyota Sugimoto, sitting alongside The Future as a homage to Paul Renner's geometric classic.
