LL Cyan Mono specimen from Lineto

A monospaced humanist sans derived from Jan Tschichold's 1942 Redis-nib writing exercises, developed by Aurèle Sack into a five-weight family with an unusually warm and rhythmic character.

About

Rooted in a 2003 ECAL exercise referencing Tschichold's equal-stroke Redis-nib lettering, the design was fully developed by Sack from 2019 onwards. Where other Redis-inspired alphabets leaned geometric, Tschichold's originals stayed closer to the tradition of Gill and Johnston, and Sack amplified that tendency by introducing subtle contrast, smooth joints and calibrated rounded terminals. The three monospaced weights sit on the wider side of the genre, lending a raw, technical feel that sits alongside the warmth of the underlying hand-drawn source.

Classification

A monospaced variant of a humanist sans derived from Jan Tschichold's Redis-nib writing exercises; monolinear construction with deliberate humanist warmth distinguishes it from geometric or neutral monospaceds.
