New Astro

A Bauhaus-influenced display typeface drawing on 1980s and 90s toy packaging and brand graphics, offered in standard and soft rounded variants across five weights.
About
Developed during the COVID lockdown, the design borrows from ITC Bauhaus as it appeared in the Playmobil logo and other toy-era brand graphics, while introducing slanted cuts on b, d, p and q, a compact s after Aldo Novarese's STOP, and a cleaner minimal e. A second subfamily, New Astro Soft, rounds the terminals to recapture the original Playmobil feel. Both subfamilies carry an extensive stylistic set covering letters such as a, s, y, w, A, E, F, L, S and X to shift the tone from playful to structured.
Classification
A bold, compact geometric typeface rooted in ITC Bauhaus and 1980s–90s toy branding aesthetics, designed primarily for headlines and branding rather than continuous text.
