New Astro Soft specimen from Newlyn

A geometric display face rooted in ITC Bauhaus and 1980s toy packaging aesthetics, available in standard and soft rounded variants across five weights.

About

Developed during COVID lockdown, the design draws directly from ITC Bauhaus as seen in the Playmobil logo, refining that compact boldness with slanted cuts, a minimal e, and a compact s borrowed from Aldo Novarese's STOP. A Soft subfamily adds fully rounded terminals to echo the original Playmobil aesthetic, while an extensive stylistic set provides alternate forms for letters including a, s, y, w, A, E, F, L, S and X. The family spans ten styles across two subfamilies and suits titles, subtitles and brand work where retro geometric character is wanted.

Classification

A bold, rounded geometric display face drawing on ITC Bauhaus and 1980s–90s toy brand aesthetics, designed primarily for titles, subtitles and branding rather than continuous text.
