New Spirit Condensed Italic
A thorough revival of Windsor (1905), redrawn across a wide family with condensed and compressed cuts that make it credible for contemporary editorial and identity work.
About
Originally released by Stephenson, Blake & Co. in 1905, Windsor is here reworked into a complete, well-weighted family spanning upright, italic, condensed and compressed subfamilies. The design carries an Arcadian quality described by the foundry as organic and untainted by industry, sitting close to Oldstyle serif tradition while retaining Windsor's idiosyncratic warmth. Five italic weights in the condensed cut run from Light to Bold, giving the family real flexibility across headings and display settings.
Classification
A revival of Windsor (1905), New Spirit draws on Arcadian, organic qualities while nodding to conservative Oldstyle serif traditions, placing it firmly in the oldstyle serif subcategory with display-weight character.
