Scout
Occupant Fonts · Cyrus Highsmith · 2018

A DIN-influenced grotesque by Cyrus Highsmith that tempers industrial rigour with references to Venus and Cairoli across six weights, two widths and full italics.
About
Drawn by Cyrus Highsmith in 2018, Scout answers the perennial demand for a DIN-like sans without the coldness of the original, folding in traits from Venus and Cairoli alongside Highsmith's own graphic instincts. The family runs from Thin to Black with italic companions throughout, and a Condensed subfamily doubles the range for headlines, captions and sidebars. Greek and Cyrillic alphabets, contributed by June Shin, extend its reach across multilingual publishing.
Classification
Scout is a grotesque sans with industrial DIN-adjacent proportions, tempered by references to Venus and Cairoli, placing it firmly in the European grotesque tradition rather than geometric or humanist camps.
