Zócalo Banner is one of three optical-size members of Highsmith's Zócalo series, originally commissioned for Eduardo Danilo's redesign of El Universal. Drawing on Nicholas Kis's oldstyle as a historical anchor, it adapts those forms through Highsmith's impressions of México itself. Simplified serifs distinguish it from Zócalo Display, making it the workhorse for headlines and decks where optical refinement matters.
