Grava specimen from Positype

A geometric sans by Neil Summerour that softens the category's characteristic austerity with humanist warmth, available in 60 styles across Latin, Cyrillic and Greek.

About

Spanning ten weights from Thin to Ultra with matching obliques, Grava addresses the structural inconsistencies inherent in strict geometric sans design by introducing warmth without abandoning geometric rigour. A Display subfamily adds sharp points and conspicuous angles suited to poster sizes, book covers and expressive branding, while optional ligatures invoke a midcentury modernist sensibility. All three scripts — Latin, Cyrillic and Greek — are bundled together and spaced comprehensively across 330 supported languages.

Classification

Grava is explicitly positioned within the geometric sans category, built on triangle, circle and square foundations but tempered with humanist warmth to offset the coldness typical of strict geometric designs.
