About
Designed for Weekendavisen, a Danish broadsheet tracing its lineage to Berlingske Tidende (1749), WEA Text sits within a four-part system alongside Display, Hairline and Sans subfamilies. Fourteen styles span Light to Black, each with a matching italic, tuned for legibility at small print sizes and on-screen. The broader type system received the Tokyo TDC Award in 2021, and the newspaper redesign was named World's Best Designed Newspaper by SND twice.
Classification
A newspaper text serif designed for sustained reading at small sizes, built as part of a larger editorial type system encompassing Display, Hairline and Sans cuts, consistent with a contemporary transitional or humanist text serif approach.
