A Franklin Gothic-inspired grotesque by Daniel Sabino that extends the characteristic stroke contrast into lighter weights and tilts the overall design towards the neo-grotesque with horizontal terminals and round dots.
About
Where Franklin Gothic's stroke contrast historically diminished in lighter weights due to later additions by other hands, Gal Gothic reintegrates that contrast across the entire range for a more coherent system. Horizontal terminals and smooth junctions between verticals and curves pull the design away from its American grotesque roots and closer to neo-grotesque territory, while round dots and a consistent rhythm give it a distinct voice. Each font contains around 900 glyphs with extensive Latin language support, small caps, tabular and old-style figures, and a variable version with weight and width axes. The name is a tribute to Brazilian singer Gal Costa.

Inspired by Franklin Gothic, a classic American grotesque, but modified with horizontal terminals and smooth curve-to-stem connections that push it toward the neo-grotesque model, making it a hybrid between the two traditions.
