Bart Text specimen from b•v-h type

A contemporary serif combining Oldstyle, Transitional and Neoclassical influences, designed originally for the visual identity of the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg.

About

Designed in 2019 and released in 2022 by André Baldinger and Toan Vu-Huu, Bart Text is the text-optimised cut of a three-contrast family also available in Normal and Display variants. Distinguishing details include right-angled cuts on drops and terminals, square dots, wire elements and a strong stroke contrast that keeps the typeface formal yet contemporary. The Text subfamily runs across four weights from Regular to Heavy, each with a matching italic, and the glyph set of 839 characters covers an extensive range of Latin-based languages.

Classification

The designers describe the family as combining Oldstyle, Transitional and Neoclassical elements, with higher stroke contrast, right-angled terminals and square dots that position it in a contemporary interpretation of the transitional genre.
