Diverse B specimen from DDOTT

A humanist sans with subtle stroke contrast drawn from broad-nib pen logic, forming the middle member of a three-family system grounded in Gerrit Noordzij's theory of the stroke.

About

Diverse B occupies the middle ground of the Diverse system by Dominik Thieme, offering a measured stroke contrast between the monolinear A and the high-contrast C. All three families share a common skeleton inspired by Johnston and Gill Sans, with spacing and kerning unified across the system so contrast levels can be switched between columns without layout disruption. Six weights from Light to Black with true italics are available, alongside an extensive OpenType feature set including small caps, sub- and superscripts, and geometric alternates that temper the calligraphic quality of the base forms.

Classification

Diverse B is a humanist sans with subtle stroke contrast, rooted in the broad-nib pen tradition and inspired by early humanist designs such as Johnston and Gill Sans. It sits between the monolinear Diverse A and high-contrast Diverse C within a system grounded in Gerrit Noordzij's contrast theory.
