Saol Display
Schick Toikka · Florian Schick, Lauri Toikka

Saol's display optical size: a high-contrast Victorian old-style serif for headlines, with delicate hairlines and flamboyant swash italic.
About
Saol Display is the largest-size cut of Saol. The foundry describe it as featuring delicate hairlines for maximum contrast, drawn for striking headlines and titling. Six weights from Thin to Bold with matching italics include opulent swash italic capitals, and connect down through Saol Standard for middle sizes and Saol Text for body copy. The Victorian sources behind the family (Ronaldson 1884, Caxton Old Style 1889, West Old Style 1892) come through most fiercely here, with razor-edge details and exaggerated terminals.
