ION C specimen from Setup Type

A modular display typeface built on the 7-segment LCD grid, released in 11 styles from Thin to a trio of ultra-heavy weights, with a companion Cells style for building grid-based compositions.

About

Designed by Ondrej Jób and first released in 2010, ION C is the wide variant in the ION collection alongside the condensed ION A and normal-width ION B. Its construction follows the matrix of the classic 7-segment LCD display, producing a uniform stroke with no contrast and a large x-height across ten weights. An eleventh style, Cells, provides filled and outlined containers with varying corner radii for layering beneath text or constructing standalone layouts. Over 100 languages are supported through Basic and Extended Latin, while the three heaviest ultra weights carry only the basic glyph set due to their simplified construction.

Classification

ION C is constructed on the matrix of the classic 7-segment LCD display, making it a modular display typeface with no contrast and a monospaced, geometric construction derived from digital segmented readouts.
