Ny. Slab Wide specimen from A2-Type

A wide, Black-weight slab serif cut from the Ny. family, originally commissioned for the 2015 redesign of The New York Times Magazine.

About

Part of the broader Ny. type system designed by Henrik Kubel, this wide slab variant draws its sharp contrast and personality from both Stephenson Blake's Mazarin metal type and the Gothic Blackletter of The New York Times Magazine logotype. Available in a single Black weight, it is built for large-scale display use where boldness and width are paramount. The name references New York, where the family debuted, and the Danish word for 'new', a nod to Kubel's origins.

Classification

A wide-cut slab serif variant within the Ny. family, drawing on the Garamond-like Mazarin metal typeface and the contrast of Gothic Blackletter, making it a distinctive display-weight slab.
