A2-Type · 2017

A condensed grotesque sans drawn for the Evening Standard's 2017–18 redesign, part of a 58-font bespoke system spanning text, display and splash weights.
About
Designed by A2-Type as part of the A2 Standard system commissioned by the Evening Standard for their 2017–18 overhaul, the Condensed subfamily runs seven weights from Thin to Heavy and pairs with an X Condensed variant for the tightest column and headline settings. Built for a free daily tabloid distributed across London at 850,000 copies, the proportions and weight range reflect the demands of dense, fast-read print layouts.
