A2 Standard Text
A2-Type · 2017

The serif text cut from A2-Type's 58-font bespoke system commissioned for the Evening Standard's 2017–18 redesign.
About
Designed as part of a large commissioned type system for the Evening Standard, this text serif sits alongside display, sans, condensed and splash variants totalling 58 interconnected fonts. Six weights from Light to Black, each with a matching italic, give editors a full range for body text across a tabloid distributed in 850,000 daily copies across London. The system was built to serve print, web, app and broadcast contexts simultaneously.
Classification
A2 Standard Text is a serif designed for newspaper body text use, with a range of weights suited to continuous reading at small sizes, consistent with transitional serif conventions for press typography.
