Lateral Condensed specimen from Schick Toikka

The Condensed width of Lateral: a tight workhorse neo-grotesque between Compressed and Standard, in seven weights with italics.

About

Lateral Condensed sits one notch wider than Lateral Compressed and one notch narrower than Lateral Standard, within the seven-width Lateral system. The flat curve segments are still visible enough to read as a deliberate, slightly boxy detail, lending the cut a quietly brutalist edge while keeping it usable for editorial settings. Seven weights from Thin to Black with matching italics handle hierarchy from text to display, and the cut connects through the Lateral variable font to all other widths and to a slant axis.

Classification

The Condensed width within the seven-width Lateral system; sits between Compressed and Standard.
