Lateral Expanded specimen from Schick Toikka

The Expanded width of Lateral: a stretched neo-grotesque with wide horizontals, in seven weights with italics, sized for display use.

About

Lateral Expanded sits towards the wide end of the seven-width Lateral system. The flat segments at curve extremes are pulled into pronounced horizontal bars, giving the letterforms a slow, brutalist stance that the foundry mark out as display territory. Seven weights from Thin to Black with matching italics keep the cut versatile across hierarchy, and the wider Lateral variable font allows continuous interpolation between this width and Extended, Ultra Wide, and the rest of the system.

Classification

The Expanded width within the seven-width Lateral system; flat curve segments stretch into wide horizontals at expanded widths.
